PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically stop the driving of a cutting blade of a portable type mower for two persons used for cutting the surface side of tea plants, garden trees, flowers and ornamental plants, etc. in an operating handle part in emergency. SOLUTION: This device for stopping the driving of a cutting blade 4 of the portable type mower for the two persons is obtained by installing a clutch operating mechanism for operating a clutch mechanism for engaging and disengaging a power from an engine 3 to the cutting blade 4 or an engine stopping mechanism for stopping the rotation of the engine 3 in either one of an operating handle part 5 on the side of a prime mover or an operating handle part 6 on the side opposite to the prime mover. The clutch operating mechanism is a clutch lever 13 for engaging the clutch mechanism when the clutch lever 13 is gripped simultaneously with the gripping of the operating handle part 5 by an operator and disengaging the clutch mechanism when the gripping is released. Furthermore, the engine stopping mechanism is an engine stopping lever 15 for rotating the engine 3 when the engine stopping lever 15 is gripped simultaneously with the gripping of the operating handle part 5 and stopping the engine 3 when the gripping is released.
