In an exemplary method, a sample is provided. The sample contains a polymerase molecule, a receptor molecule containing a fluorophore, and a detector molecule. The detector molecule is configured to, in the presence of a target nucleic acid, inhibit the polymerase molecule from cleaving the fluorophore.
