A chewable softgel capsule configured for encasing orally ingestible articles.Thechewable soft capsule is provided with an outer shell composition whichcomprises at least onegelatin in a range of 20% to 60% of the total weight of the shell compositionand morepreferably between about 30% to 47%, at least one plasticizer in an amountselected to renderflexible the outer shell composition, at least one starch, and an anti-tackingand softening agentin an amount selected to render the outer shell composition non-sticky, andwater. In oneembodiment the chewable soft capsule comprises the at least one starch in arange of about 5%to 30% of the total weight and more preferably about 10% to 20% of the totalweight of the shellcomposition. The chewable softgel capsule is suitable for encapsulatingmedicines,pharmaceutical compositions, nutraceuticals, vitamins, nutritionalsupplements, and the like.
