PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means contributing to the clarification of the mechanisms of herpes zoster pain and postherpetic neuralgia and useful for treating the diseases.SOLUTION: The method for making a model animal for herpes zoster pain and postherpetic neuralgia, includes: the process for inoculating herpes virus into the skin of an animal except human and the process for administering, into the animal, an antibody recognizing varicella-zoster virus immediate early protein and cross-reacting with a brain-originated neurotrophic factor.
