According to an embodiment of the disclosure, a wearable device includes a plurality of sensors. The plurality of sensors are configured to detect information concerning a wearer or a surrounding of the wearer of the wearable device. At least some of the detected information is automatically communicated from the wearable device to a remote application based on either a request from a user of the remote application or a trigger initiated on the wearable device when the detected information from the one or more sensors indicate an event has occurred. In certain configurations, the event may be an uttered request for help or a detect increase in heart rate above an expected signature. In certain configurations, some of the information is transmitted to a security or law enforcement agency.
