A composition or nanosuspension is described that includes water dispersible nanoparticles of a retinoid compound having an average particle size of less than about 500 nm. Also described, are pharmaceutical compositions intended for topical administration, including such a composition or nanosuspension. Uses of such pharmaceutical compositions in the treatment of skin diseases, particularly acne, ichtyosis and psoriasis are also described.
