A method of estimating response of a medical lead to an electromagnetic field includes providing a medical lead having a proximal end, a distal end, a plurality of electrodes disposed along the distal end, a plurality of terminals disposed along the proximal end, and a plurality of conductors extending along the medical lead and electrically coupling the electrodes to the terminals； individually applying a test field at each of a plurality of test positions along the medical lead using at least one excitation probe； for each application of the test field, determining a response to the application of the test field at one or more of the electrodes or terminals； generating a transfer function using a combination of the responses determined for the applications of the test field； and using the transfer function to estimate a response of the medical lead to an electromagnetic field.La présente invention concerne un procédé d'estimation de réponse d'un fil médical à un champ électromagnétique, comprenant les étapes suivantes : utilisation d'un fil médical possédant une extrémité proximale, une extrémité distale, une pluralité d'électrodes placée le long de l'extrémité distale, une pluralité de terminaux placés le long de l'extrémité proximale, et une pluralité de conducteurs s'étendant le long du fil médical et couplant électriquement les électrodes aux terminaux； application individuelle d'un champ test à chacune d'une pluralité de positions tests le long du fil médical en utilisant au moins une sonde d'excitation； pour chaque application du champ test, détermination d'une réponse à l'application du champ test à une ou plusieurs électrodes ou terminaux； production d'une fonction de transfert au moyen d'une combinaison des réponses déterminées pour les applications du champ test； et utilisation de la fonction de transfert pour estimer une réponse du fil médical à un champ électromagnétique.
