To provide a composition for treatment or prevention of autism disorders.SOLUTION: A method for treating an autism disorder comprises administering to an individual having the autism disorder a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of menthol, linalool, icilin and combinations thereof. The autism disorder is selected from the group consisting of classic autism, Asperger's syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, Rett syndrome, pervasive developmental disorders-not otherwise specified ("PDD-NOS"), fragile X syndrome, and combinations thereof.
