PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously provide the advantage that cases similar to an image to be diagnosed can be viewed and the advantage that images different in imaging modalities can be interpreted for increased reliability of diagnosis.SOLUTION: The input of a plurality of images from different imaging modalities representing the same subject is received. Features are calculated on the plurality of images. Features are also acquired for images having the same imaging modalities as the plurality of images out of images constituting case image sets stored in a case database each including a plurality of images different in imaging modalities representing a subject of the same kind as the subject. The features on the plurality of images are compared with the features on the case image sets, and overall similarities are calculated. A predetermined number of image sets are retrieved from the case database and output as search results in descending order of overall similarity.COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT【課題】診断対象の画像に類似した症例を見ることができるという利益と、撮影モダリティが異なる画像を読影して診断の信頼性を高めることができるという利益を同時に得る。【解決手段】同じ被写体を表す撮影モダリティが異なる複数の画像の入力を受け付け、これら複数の画像に対して特徴量を算出し、一方、症例データベースに記憶されている、上記被写体と同種の同じ被写体を表す撮影モダリティが異なる複数の画像を含む症例画像セットについて、症例画像セットを構成する画像のうち上記複数の画像と撮影モダリティが同じである画像に対して特徴量を取得し、上記複数の画像に係る特徴量と症例画像セットに係る特徴量とを比較して、総合的な類似度を算出し、この総合的な類似度が高い順に上位所定数内の画像セットを症例データベースから検索して検索結果を出力する。【選択図】図1
