ABSTRACT A process for producing submicron/nano calcium phosphate particles by electrospraying combined with sol-gel method. The present invention deals with the production of calcium phosphate particles such as hydroxyapatite (HA) (Ca/P: 1.67) and calcium deficient hydroxyapatite (CDHA) (Ca/P: 1.61) etc., of specific morphology by electrospraying combined with sol-gel synthesis method. Stoichiometric amount of calcium precursor is added to the hydrolyzed phosphate precursor. The sol prepared is blended with the polymer to form the electrosprayable solution. The solution can be electrosprayed and subsequently heated to obtain CaP particles of the required stoichiometry and morphology.
