PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope capable of quickly detecting a tear or the like of an insulation member comprising an outermost layer.SOLUTION: An endoscope includes: a flexible tube and a bending tube comprised of an insulation member comprising an outermost layer of an insertion part a braid 15b that is formed by tubularly braiding metallic wires having a plurality of strokes and clockwise and counterclockwise wound in parallel to each other, and a plurality of insulation wires wound in parallel to each other in an inverse direction to the winding direction of the metallic wires flexible boards 4 and 5 that are provided at a distal side and a proximal side of the braid 15b and connect the plurality of metallic wires 2a, 2b, ... 2g, and 2h such that the metallic wires are served as detection lines as conductive parts and contact points 6a and 6b that are provided on the second flexible board 5 and to which the detection parts for detecting a tear in the bending tube or a tear in the flexible tube are electrically connected.
