PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable, even in a case where the synthesis of a sol is impossible, as in the case of a perovskite-type metal oxide fiber, of stably spinning a metal oxide fiber over an extended period.SOLUTION: The method of the present invention for manufacturing a metal oxide fiber comprises a step of preparing a spinning solution into which a metal salt and a polymer coordination-bondable with the metal ion of the metal salt have been dissolved, a step of forming a coordination-bonded fiber by spinning the spinning solution, and a step of manufacturing a metal oxide fiber by firing the coordination-bonded fiber. Incidentally, the inclusion, apart from the coordination-bondable polymer, of a low-molecular-weight compound coordination-bondable with the metal ion of the metal salt is also permissible.
