One intact protein source and a protease component are added to an extruder and are wherein being mixed to form the mud including a protein hydrolysate, with 5% to 30% hydrolysis degree. Mud has at least 30% total protein content based on the solid weight in mud. The protein hydrolysate correspondingly generated is also claimed.
