A garment 10 suitable for use in obtaining data about an athlete in training, and a method of use thereof, provides (i) a plurality of sensors 14 comprising at least one biomedical or other body monitoring sensor and at least one positional sensor, and (ii) a processing unit and/or a base unit 17 configured to receive and/or accommodate a control module 18 comprising a processing unit. At least one of the positional sensors is configured to receive signals from a plurality of external beacons, at least one of beacons being a terrestrial beacon, and the garment is configured to communicate data collected by the sensors to the processing unit and/or the base unit. The biomedical sensors may include an electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor, a photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor or a body temperature sensor. The positional sensors may also include a satellite navigation sensor, altitude sensor or motion capture sensor.
