Water-based composition for oxidation dyeing of human keratinic fibers comprises an oxidation dye and an alkalizing agent comprising an alkali(ne earth) metal or ammonium metasilicate and an alkanolamine. An Independent claim is also included for dyeing human keratinic fibers by mixing the dye composition with an oxidizing composition comprising hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), an H2O2-releasing compound or an oxidoreductase enzyme, applying the mixture to the fibers, leaving the fibers for 3-50 minutes, rinsing, shampooing, rinsing and drying.
