Wound compression dressings of the invention comprise: an elastic layer comprising an extensible material having recovery of greater than 90% when tested according to ASTM D412 at elongations up to about 150% an adhesive layer on at least a portion of a first side of the elastic layer and a release layer on at least a portion of a second side of the elastic layer opposite from the first side thereof.
