MESH PROSTHESIS FOR REPAIRING UMBILICAL/INGUINAL HERNIA Abstract The present invention generally relates to surgically implantable mesh prosthesis for use in repairing umbilical/inguinal hernia. More particularly, the present invention relates to a mesh prosthesis (100) having a spring like structure and pull mechanism. The mesh prosthesis (100) includes a pouch (50) that is made of non-absorbable material that takes shape of the area available for expansion. The pouch (50) includes a first expandable preperitoneal membrane (10), a pullstring (20) attached perpendicularly to the first expandable preperitoneal membrane (10), a second expandable membrane (30) configured parallel to the first expandable preperitoneal membrane (10) and a disc (40) that support umbilicus to achieve proper cosmesis. The mesh prosthesis (100) provides suture less technique to repair the umbilical hernia and preserves the umbilicus. The mesh prosthesis (100) is suitable for the defect size from 0.5 to 5 cm.
