The present invention addresses the problem of providing a vaccine which as yet has not been provided for the disease HHV-6B, which is the cause of exanthema subitum in infants, and the problem of providing an effective screening method for other therapeutic drugs. The above-mentioned problems are solved by providing an epitope specific to HHV-6B, of the amino acid sequence (QALCEGGHVFYNP) represented by positions 484 to 496 of SEQ ID NO: 2 or a modified sequence thereof, wherein the epitope either has a sequence comprising at least five consecutive amino acids including at least E, or a sequence that preserves the 487th C and 489th G when E is changed to Q.본 발명은 현재까지 제공되어 있지 않은 영유아의 돌발성 발진 등의 원인이 되는 질환 HHV-6B의 백신을 제공하는 것 및 그 치료약 개발에 유효한 스크리닝 방법을 제공하는 것을 과제로 한다. 상기 과제는 서열번호:2의 484~496 잔기로 나타내는 아미노산 서열(QALCEGGHVFYNP) 또는 그 변이서열 내에 적어도 E를 포함하는 5개의 연속적 아미노산 서열을 포함하거나 E가 Q로 변화된 경우 487번 잔기의 C 및 489번 잔기의 G가 보존된 서열을 포함하는 HHV-6B에 특이적인 에피토프를 제공하는 것에 의해 해결된다.
