PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous ceramic capable of carrying a photocatalyst without use of a binder, a photocatalyst carrier having a high photocatalytic effect, and a purifier using the porous ceramic and the photocatalyst carrier.SOLUTION: The porous ceramic includes pores with a pore diameter of 1 &mum or less. The porous ceramic is formed by a foaming agent being added to a green body containing, for example, clay, feldspar, and porcelain stone, and the resultant material being sintered. In addition, the photocatalyst carrier is formed by carrying a photocatalyst on the porous ceramic.
