A feeder assembly for an agricultural harvester, including a first shaft (42), a second shaft (44) opposite the first shaft (42), a chain or belt (52) extending around the first shaft (42) and the second shaft (44), wherein the chain or belt (52) is configured to convey agricultural through the agricultural harvester, and a self-adjusting object deflector assembly (40/140) positioned between the first shaft (42) and the second shaft (44), wherein the self-adjusting object deflector assembly (40/140) comprises a deflector (97/141) biased against the chain or belt (52) and configured to block the agricultural material from interfering with a connection between the chain or belt (52) and the first shaft (42).
