A patient lifting device (PLD) including at least two support portions, wherein the at least two support portions include a channel housing a cable a resting portion which resides substantially between the at least two support portions and wherein the cable is connected to the resting portion and wherein the cable is able to be tensioned or slackened such that the resting portion is able to move between a lower position and a heightened position relative to a surface on which the support portions are positioned characterised in that the resting portion is configured to be able to retain a consistent surface area engagement with a portion of a patients body resting thereon as the direction of force from the patients body imposed on the resting portion changes as the resting portion moves from the lower position to the heightened position.La présente invention concerne un dispositif de levage de patient (PLD) comprenant : au moins deux parties de support, les au moins deux parties de support comprenant un canal contenant un câble une partie de repos qui réside sensiblement entre les au moins deux parties de support et le câble étant raccordé à la partie de repos et le câble pouvant être tendu ou relâché de sorte que la partie de repos soit capable de se déplacer entre une position inférieure et une position levée par rapport à une surface sur laquelle les parties de support sont positionnées caractérisé en ce que la partie de repos est configurée de manière à pouvoir retenir un engagement de zone de surface régulier avec une partie dun corps de patient reposant sur celle-ci lorsque la direction de force depuis le corps du patient imposée sur la partie de repos change lorsque la partie de repos se déplace de la position inférieure à la position levée.
