PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument and measuring method of a load on an intervertebral disk, which precisely measure a load to be imposed on the intervertebral disk while reducing a burden on a subject.

SOLUTION: The method estimates the load to be imposed on the intervertebral disk caused by the motion of a human body, and includes photographing the back of a subject during the motion, measuring the motion of vertebrae constituting a spine, calculating the deformation of the spine based on the measured motion of the vertebrae, and estimating the load to be imposed on the intervertebral disk based on the calculated deformation of the spine. Thus, when the load on the intervertebral disk is obtained, there is no necessity to use uncertain information such as the information, etc., of muscles, etc., so that the load to be imposed on the intervertebral disk is precisely estimated. Besides, since information concerning the motion of the vertebrae is measured by photographing a body surface, a surgical treatment is not required in the measurement to thereby reduce the load on the subject.
