The absorbent article includes: a fitting part that is formed so as to be capable of being fitted to the hip of a user； and an absorbing body including an absorbent core that absorbs the bodily fluids of the user and holds the absorbed bodily fluids, a top sheet disposed on a skin-facing side of the absorbent core, and a back sheet disposed on a non-skin-facing side of the absorbent core. The fitting part is formed of a stretchable member that is formed by layering a plurality of fiber sheets and stretchable elastic members and has an overlapping area overlapping the absorbing body and a non-overlapping area other than the overlapping area. The absorbing body has a first joining part and a second joining part to be joined to the fitting part at side edges thereof in the direction in which the fitting part is stretched, and an idle part that is disposed between the absorbent core and the fitting part and is joined to the fitting part via the first joining part and the second joining part.
