The upper core layer is located between the topsheet and the one or more underlying core layer(s) and the topsheet and the backsheet extend together laterally outside the absorbent core. The absorbent core has a transversal width of a transition between a front portion and an intermediate portion of the core that is narrower than a transversal width of the rest of the core.
