PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antibacterial/deodorant material having excellent heat resistance, readily processible to a product with small possibility of discoloring or denaturating and useful for a medical and sanitary tool, an air cleaner, a building material, daily needs, etc., by dispersing and attaching metal particles such as metallic silver on titanium oxide particles.SOLUTION: This antibacterial/deodorant material is obtained by dispersing and attaching preferably 0.5-5 wt.% of one kind or two kinds of metal particle selected from metallic silver or metallic copper having nanometer order of diameter, preferably &le4 nm average diameter to anatase-typed titanium oxide particles having submicron size, preferably &le0.04 &mum average diameter and having a photocatalytic property. Preferably, the metal particles contain one kind or two kinds of metal selected from platinum and palladium enhancing a catalytic property of titanium oxide.
