The disclosure relates to a beer-taste beverage comprising a saponin and a caramel colorant wherein the saponin content is at least 1 mg/L but not greater than 50 mg/L. The saponin may be quillaja saponin. The beverage may be non-alcoholic and not use malt as an ingredient. The disclosure also relates to a method of whitening the foam of a colorant-containing, beer-taste beverage, which comprises incorporating a saponin in the beverage.
