PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel inhibitor for active oxygen-induced damages, which is easily available and can be easily mass-produced.
SOLUTION: The inhibitor includes, as active ingredients, one or more kinds selected from cyclic carbonyl compounds including a group of compounds represented by formula 1 (wherein X represents a cyclic carbon chain with 1-2 or 10-14 carbon atoms, and R1 represents an alkyl group or a hydrogen atom), compounds containing two oxygen atoms in the cycle such as 1,4-dioxacycloheptadecane-5,17-dione, and compounds represented by formula 3 (wherein Y represents a cyclic carbon chain with 10-14 carbon atoms). There are further provided medicines, quasi drugs, cosmetics, foods and drinks and tobaccos each containing the inhibitor for active oxygen-induced damages as active ingredients.
