A method and an alignment system which auto-levels and/or auto- centers a loading platform (104) to load and unload a wheeled stretcher (106) to and from an emergency transport vehicle (100) are disclosed. A controller (114) of the alignment system receives a command to extend the loading platform from the emergency vehicle and extends the loading platform under power from the emergency transport vehicle. The controller recognizes an approaching wheeled stretcher, and aligns automatically the loading platform with a leading edge of the approaching wheeled stretcher to compensate automatically for any alignment issues between the loading platform and loading wheels (130) of the wheeled stretcher.L'invention concerne un procédé et un système d'alignement qui met à niveau et/ou centre automatiquement une plate-forme de chargement (104) pour charger et décharger une civière à roues (106) dans un véhicule de transport d'urgence (100) et depuis ce dernier. Une unité de commande (114) du système d'alignement reçoit un ordre pour étendre la plate-forme de chargement du véhicule d'urgence, et étend la plate-forme de chargement avec l'énergie fournie par le véhicule de transport d'urgence. L'unité de commande repère une civière à roues qui s'approche, et aligne automatiquement la plate-forme de chargement avec un bord avant de la civière à roues qui s'approche, pour compenser automatiquement tout problème d'alignement entre la plate-forme de chargement et des roues de chargement (130) de la civière à roues.
