An objective of the present invention is to provide a biodegradable magnesium alloy with an excellent elongation ratio, corrosion resistance, and strength, and a manufacturing method thereof. The biodegradable magnesium alloy comprises x wt% of calcium, y wt% of zinc, and the remainder consisting of magnesium and inevitable impurities. The x and the y are on a range corresponding to an area where a lower line of a graph represented by mathematical equation 1 (y = 44.894x^2- 25.123x + 5.192) and an upper line of the graph represented by mathematical equation 2 (y = -10.618x^2+ 7.8784x + 0.1637) are overlapped on an x-y plane. A zinc compound phase includes 90 wt% or more of Ca_2Mg_6Zn_3 with respect to 100 wt% of the zinc compound phase.본 발명은 x 중량%의 칼슘, y 중량%의 아연, 잔부 마그네슘 및 불가피 불순물로 이루어진 생체분해 마그네슘 합금이며, 상기 x 와 y 는 수학식 1(y = 44.894x2 - 25.123x + 5.192)에 의한 궤적 하부와 수학식 2(y = -10.618x2 + 7.8784x + 0.1637)에 의한 궤적 상부가 xy 평면에서 서로 중첩되는 영역에 해당하는 범위를 가지고, 상기 아연화합물 상은, 상기 아연화합물 상을 전체중량으로 할 때, 90 중량% 이상의 Ca2Mg6Zn3을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
