PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope device reducing the time needed for focus adjustment when performing endoscope observation of a local region of a photographic object present inside a living body as compared to before.SOLUTION: This endoscope device includes: a light source selectively changing over between broadband light including a visible light region and narrow-bands of light beams obtained by discretizing the visible light region, and emitting illumination light irradiated toward the object an objective optical system having a first lens group, a movable optical system, and a second lens group in order from the object side, and forming the image of the return light of the illumination light a drive part reciprocating the movable optical system between the first lens group and the second lens group along the optical axis, and performing focus position adjustment of the return light from the object and a detection part detecting whether or not the movable optical system has arrived at a position separated from the first lens group by a prescribed distance.
