TREATMENT AND/OR PROPHYLAXIS OF DISEASES ACCOMPANYING IMMUNE DISORDER CAUSED BY COMBINATION OF BIGUANIDE-BASED ANTIDIABETIC DRUG AND IMMUNOSUPPRESSANT-RELEASING AGENT OR CO-STIMULATORY RECEPTOR AGONIST
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for activating various immune cells ex vivo to enhance their functions and a method for evaluating multi-functionality of cells related to immunity.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, there is provided a method for enhancing the multi-functionality of Immune cells, the method comprising treating collected immune cells with a biguanide-based antidiabetic drug selected from metformin, phenformin, and buformin in vivo to increase the number of CD8T cells having high IL-2, TNFα and IFNγ producing abilities. There is also provided a method for enhancing the functions of immune cells. Here, the immune cells are selected from CD8T cells, CDT cells, NK cells, γδT cells, NKT cells, B cells, and bone marrow cells. There is also provided a method for treating and/or preventing a disease associated with immune abnormality using immune cells with enhanced functions as an active ingredient. There is further provided a method for evaluating the multi-functionality of immune cells.
