The present invention is directed to cell surface antigenes found on myelomacells and on ovarian cancer cells that are recognized by monoclonalantibodies, and antibody binding fragments thereof, as described. Themonoclonal antibodies of the invention are capable of being used fortherapeutic, screening, diagnostic and cell purification purposes. Arepresentative and exemplified monoclonal antibody of the present inventionrecognizes and binds to an epitope common to a surface antigen that isexpressed on multiple myeloma cells and to a surface antigen that is expressedon ovarian cancer cells. The function of this monoclonal antibody both in vivoand in vitro is demonstrated.
