A process for preparing a hydrophobic acrylic polymer material for the manufacture of an ophthalmic device, which process comprises at least: a) a step of supplying a mixture of at least one aromatic acrylate monomer, an aromatic methacrylate monomer, and an alkoxyalkyl methacrylate monomer； b) a step of degassing the mixture obtained in step a)； c) a step of introducing said mixture into an intraocular lens mold； d) a thermal radical polymerization step in the presence of an initiator； e) a polymerization step by irradiation with gamma rays. Procédé de préparation d'un matériau polymère acrylique hydrophobe pour la fabrication d'un dispositif ophtalmologique, lequel procédé comprend au moins : a) une étape d'approvisionnement d'un mélange d'au moins un monomère acrylate aromatique, un monomère méthacrylate aromatique, et un monomère de méthacrylate d'alkoxyalkyle ； b) une étape de dégazage du mélange obtenu à l'étape a) ； c) une étape d'introduction dudit mélange dans un moule pour lentille intraoculaire ； d) une étape de polymérisation radicalaire par voie thermique en présence d'un amorceur ； e) une étape de polymérisation par irradiation aux rayons gamma.
