The present invention provides a hand-held apparatus for the application of a sunless tanning composition to the skin of a user, the apparatus comprising: a housing, the housing enclosing: air moving means, a nozzle, and a reservoir wherein the reservoir and nozzle are in operable gaseous connection with the air moving means such that in use, a composition in the reservoir is expelled through the nozzle to form a spray. The apparatus is useful in methods for spraying a tanning composition onto the skin of an individual.
