PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod blank that has mechanical strength being uniform in a circumferential direction and is low cost.SOLUTION: This blank 10 includes a reverse layer 11, first forward layer 12, second forward layer 13, filling layer 14 and outer layer 15, sequentially from the inside. The reverse layer 11, first forward layer 12 and second forward layer 13 are burnt by using prepreg as a material. A gap 27 is formed between end edges 24, 25 of the second forward layer 13, and this constitutes a deficit area 16. This deficit area 16 is filled by a filling layer 14.
