The present invention relates to 5-amino-3-pheylamino-6-phenylpyrazolo[3,4-d] pyrimidine derivatives of the general formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts or prodrugs thereof, wherein at least one hydrogen atom is replaced in at least one of phenyl groups A and B by a substituent RH, which has a Hammett constant σp greater than 0.23. The present invention further relates to a method of manufacturing these. Corresponding compounds have been found to have surprisingly high activity against viruses, particularly rhinoviruses and picornaviruses. Moreover, the compounds are very well tolerated. For these reasons, the compounds are suited for the treatment of viral infections and as medications.La presente invención se refiere a derivados de 4-amino-3-fenilamino-6-fenilpirazolo[3,4-d]pirimidina de la fórmula general I o sales o profármacos farmacéuticamente aceptables de los mismos, en donde por lo menos un átomo de hidrógeno está sustituido en por lo menos uno de los grupos fenilo A y B por un sustituyente RH, que tiene una constante de Hammett sp, mayor que 0.23. La presente invención también se refiere al método de su manufactura. Los compuestos correspondientes se ha encontrado que tienen sorprendentemente una actividad particularmente alta contra virus, particularmente, rinovirus y picornavirus. Además, los compuestos se toleran muy bien. Por estas razones los compuestos son apropiados para el tratamiento de infecciones virales y como medicamentos.
