Disclosed is a Bordetella pertussis, Bordetella bronchiseptica, or Bordetella parapertussis host cell having a mutation in an endogenous nucleic acid sequence encoding a glycosyltransferase having at least 98% identity with the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2, wherein the mutation causes at least 90% decrease in activity of the glycosyltransferase as compared to a corresponding non-mutated parental strain. Further disclosed are uses thereof of said nucleic acids and host cells in the preparation of adjuvants and medicaments thereof.
