A tool adapted to collect, lift, and move material has a lifting structureattached to acollection element and at least one handle attached to the lifting structure. The lifting structuremay have two or three segments. Each segment may have rails spaced apart andsubstantiallyparallel to each other with at least one cross member disposed there-between.The segmentsare oriented relative to one another to reduce the amount of bending requiredto lift material inthe collection element. Adjacent segments in the lifting structure may bepivotally attached toeach other. This tool can be free standing when used as a dustpan.
