The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a film dressing comprising the steps of feeding,a composite web consisting of a first layer of thin plastic film (5) and a second carrier layer (6) relasably attached to the thin film, and a web (2) of release material in a machine direction (A),applying a layer of adhesive (3) onto the web (2) of release material or onto the layer of thin plastic film (5), bringing together the composite web consisting of a first layer of thin plastic film (5) with a second carrier layer (6) and the web (2) of release material after the layer of adhesive (3) has been applied to either the web (2) of release material or the layer of thin plastic film (5), cutting the web (2) of release material along a line (8) extending in the machine direction (A), According to the invention the method includes the further step of weakening the first layer of thin film (5) along a line (10) coincident to the line (8) cut in the web (2) of release material..
