An absorbent wearing article (1) including an air permeable and liquid-impervious backsheet (2) and a liquid-retentive absorbent structure (3) placed on the backsheet (2). An outer sheet (5) having elastic members (4) is placed on and bonded to a surface of the backsheet (2) opposed to its surface bonded to the absorbent structure (3). The outer sheet (5) has the elastic members (4) intermittently bonded under tension thereto and is formed in a region thereof facing the absorbent structure (3) with an opening (7), the elastic members (4) extend laterally under tension from a peripheral edge (8) of the opening (7) beyond the absorbent structure (3) and the first backsheet (2) is exposed through the opening (7).
