PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrophotographic photoreceptor, in which degradation in reproducibility of fine lines is suppressed even when a recessed portion is formed on a surface of a surface layer of an electrophotographic photoreceptor by an imprinting process.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an electrophotographic photoreceptor includes steps of: forming a base coat layer containing a curable urethane resin, which is a cured product of a polyvinyl butyral resin and an isocyanate compound, on a support body made of metal; forming a charge generating layer containing a polyvinyl butyral resin on the base coat layer; forming a charge transporting layer containing a thermoplastic resin on the charge generating layer; forming a surface layer containing a curable resin on the charge transporting layer; and forming a recessed portion on the surface of the surface layer by press-contacting a mold member having a projection to the surface of the surface layer.
