The present invention provides methods and compositions for the prevention or treatment of fibrotic diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and prefibrotic diseases such as chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis. In particular, the present invention provides a method for the prevention or treatment of fibrotic and profibrotic diseases by administration of an antibody or agonist that binds to human Siglec-8 or a composition comprising said antibody or agonist.
