PURPOSE: A composition containing undecylenic acid or conjugated linoleic acid for preventing or treating neurodegenerative diseases is provided. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating neurodegenerative diseases contains at least one fatty acid of undecylenic acid and conjugated linoleic acid as an active ingredient. The composition is a pharmaceutical or food composition. A composition for suppressing calpain activity contains at least one fatty acid of undecylenic acid and conjugated linoleic acid as an active ingredient. The undecylenic acid or conjugated linoleic acid is isolated from Ricinus communis L. The composition is used by intramuscular, subcutaneous, oral, intrarectal, or intrapulmonary administration.본 발명은 운데실렌산 및 공액리놀렌산으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 어느 하나 이상의 지방산을 포함하는 퇴행성 신경질환의 예방 또는 치료용 조성물 및 칼페인 활성의 억제용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 운데실렌산 및 공액리놀렌산이 칼페인의 활성을 억제하는 효과를 나타내므로 상기 지방산을 포함하는 본 발명에 따른 조성물은 알츠하이머병 등의 퇴행성 신경질환의 예방 및 치료에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
