PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing seedlings of plants belonging to the genus Ophiopogon and the genus Liriope suitable for covering and greening the ground, capable of stably mass-producing the seedlings by growing the seedlings from seeds, and to provide a method for covering and greening the ground utilizing the method.SOLUTION: This method for mass-producing the seedlings of Ophiopogon japonicus (dwarf lilyturf) and Liriope muscari (liriope) comprises subjecting the seeds of the dwarf lilyturf and the liriope to temperature control treatment under a prescribed temperature condition for a prescribed period, soaking the seeds subjected to the temperature control treatment in water during a whole day and night, so as to make the seeds absorb the water, subjecting the seeds to molting treatment, and sowing the seeds in prescribed cultivated soil fed into a seedling-raising container or a vegetation mat, or mixing the seeds with the cultivated soil, so as to form a cultivated soil mixture, and then fixing the cultivated soil mixture to the seedling-raising container or the vegetation mat by injecting the mixture under pressure. Thus, the seedlings of the dwarf lilyturf and the liriope are grown from the seeds in the cultivated soil.COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT【課題】地被緑化に好適なリュウノヒゲ属及びヤブラン属の苗の生産を種子からの実生により大量かつ安定的に生産する方法、並びに、その方法を用いた地被緑化工法の提供を図る。【解決手段】リュウノヒゲ並びにヤブランの苗を大量生産するための方法であって、リュウノヒゲ並びにヤブランの種子に対し所定の温度条件下で所定の期間温度調整処理を行い、かかる温度調整処理後の種子を一昼夜間浸水させることで水分を吸収させた後に脱皮処理を行い、その後に該種子を育苗容器あるいは植生マットに充填されている所定の培土へ播種するか、あるいは、所定の培土と混合して混合培土を得て、かかる混合培土を加圧噴射により育苗容器あるいは植生マットに吹き付けて定着させることで、該培土からリュウノヒゲ並びにヤブランの苗を実生させる。【選択図】図1
