The present invention relates to a composition for inhibiting body hair growth including piperin as an effective ingredient and, more specifically, to a cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition for inhibiting body hair growth including 0.0005 to 5 wt% of piperin compared with total weight of the composition. The composition of the present invention effectively inhibits growth of body hair by inhibiting propagation of outer rood sheath cells by activating a promotor of TGF- &beta；1 and increasing expression of TGF- &beta；1. The composition of the present invention has no side effect even being applied to the body by not having toxicity, and is useful in reducing and removing hair of local parts.본 발명은 피페린(Piperin)을 유효성분으로 포함하는 체모성장 억제용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 조성물 총 중량 대비 피페린 0.0005 내지 5 중량%를 포함하는 체모성장 억제용 화장료 또는 약학적 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 조성물은 TGF-β1의 프로모터를 활성화시키고 TGF-β1의 발현을 증가시킴으로써 외모근초세포의 증식을 억제하여 체모의 성장을 효과적으로 억제한다. 본 발명의 조성물은 독성이 없어 인체에 적용하여도 부작용이 없으며, 국소적 부위의 털을 제거하거나 감소시키기에 유용하다.
