A method for scaling the impedance measured during the course of an electrophysiologystudy accounts for impedance drifts. By scaling the impedance there is greaterassurance that previously recorded positional information can be used to accuratelyrelocate an electrode at a prior visited position. The scale factor may be basedupon a mean value across several sensing electrodes (e.g., 12, 14, 16, 17, 18,19, or 22). Alternatively, the scale factor may be calculated specifically withrespect to an orientation of a dipole pair of driven electrodes (e.g., 12, 14,16, 17, 19, 19, 22).
