The method can be used for controlling the quality of an initial RR series constituted by a plurality of samples (RRi) that are dependent, respectively, on the time intervals (δti) that separate two successive heartbeats. The method involves re-sampling the RR series in such a way as to obtain a re-sampled RR series, and automatically checking the quality of the RR series, by automatically calculating at least the mathematical norm (NORME), in a sliding window, of the re-sampled RR series, said mathematical norm being given by the following formula: (I) in which N is the number of samples (RRi) in said window.Le procédé permet le contrôle de la qualité dune série RR initiale constituée dune pluralité déchantillons (RRi) qui sont fonction respectivement des intervalles de temps (δti) qui séparent deux battements cardiaques successifs.
