Le procédé permet le contrôle de la qualité d'une série RR initiale constituée d'une pluralité d'échantillons (RRi) qui sont fonction respectivement des intervalles de temps (δti) qui séparent deux battements cardiaques successifs. Au cours de ce procédé, on rééchantillonne la série RR de manière à obtenir une série RR ré-échantillonnée , et on contrôle automatiquement la qualité de la série RR, en calculant automatiquement au moins la norme mathématique (NORME), dans une fenêtre glissante, de la série RR ré-échantillonnée, ladite norme mathématique étant donnée par la formule suivante : où N est le nombre d'échantillons RRi dans ladite fenêtre.
