PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insertion assisting tool which is advanced and retreated easily with respect to a catheter and allows an exchange of a guidewire even when the insertion assisting tool precedes the catheter, and also to provide a catheter assembly and a catheter set equipped with the same.SOLUTION: The insertion assisting tool 1 has a distal part 2 on the distal side and a shaft 4 on the proximal side. The distal part 2 is a tubular body and has a lumen 10 with front and rear openings for inserting the guidewire G. Additionally, the distal part 2 has a tapered part 12 on the distal side. The immediate outside of the rear opening of the lumen 10 located on the rear end of the distal part 2 forms a rear surface 24, that is, an O-shaped part made from the end face of the wall of the distal part 2. The shaft 4 extends from the rearmost part of the rear surface 24 to the proximal end.
