PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article capable of being formed narrow to be fitted to the width of the crotch of a wearer, and capable of comfortably fitting in the crotch area.SOLUTION: The absorbent article 1 includes: an upper layer 2 including a top sheet 3, an intermediate sheet 4 and an absorbent core 5 disposed between the sheets and a lower layer 11 including a back sheet 12 and an elastic member 13. The upper layer 2 is divided in an intermediate part M in the longitudinal direction y into three sections in the width direction x, so that a center section C and side sections S on both sides of the center section are formed. The center section C is joined to the lower layer 11. The outer side in the width direction x of each side section S is jointed to the lower layer 11 but the inner side in the width direction x of the side section S is not joined to the lower layer 11. The elastic member 13 is disposed to extend in the lateral direction y in an area out of either side edge in the width direction x of the absorbent core 5 in the center section C and where the side sections S are not joined to the lower layer 11.
